Exfoliating before every sunless tan is a MUST! The tanning agent bonds to skin cells in your epidermis. Your skin naturally sheds these cells daily.
Exfoliating evens the skin while getting rid of any cells that are ready to shed. Doing this before your sunless tan application ensures that skin cells won't shed for several days after you get your Spray Tan. Shedding the cells = a fading tan. In other words if you want your tan to last more than a few days and fade evenly, you must exfoliate properly.
Proper exfoliation for a sunless tan is NOT about using fancy exfoliating sugar scrubs or exfoliating body washes, these products are unnecessary.
Exfoliating starts with what you exfoliate with, which should be rough in texture. This will aid in sluffing off those tired dead skin cells. For example, a loofah is not a good tool to exfoliate with, it is too gentle. Instead Exfoliating Gloves, which are made out of a course material will help you exfoliate with ease.
Simply, use them with your regular body wash or soap and scrub scrub scrub from head to toe! Skin should be pink or even slightly red when exfoliated properly.
